Overview
For many telehealth startups, one of the first big decisions they’ll have to make is whether to use an existing telehealth SaaS solution, build their own system, or somewhere in between.
There are a lot of things to make work together, which makes a scratch-built custom platform very costly to create. There’s the pre-qualification, patient intake, medical record management, doctor consultations, pharmacy fulfillment, billing, reporting, identity verification, and more to make work in one platform.

On top of that, the surrounding ecosystem your business needs requires even more things to work together. Your platform might need to communicate with CRMs, payment processors, marketing platforms, analytics tools, and third-party service providers.
Traditional telehealth SaaS platforms may get you started without waiting for expensive custom development, but for that convenience you pay the price of building your business around that platform’s frontend, available integrations, workflows, and provider ecosystem, among other limitations.
AsterMD is our answer to this problem.
Why We Built AsterMD
We have been getting a lot more telehealth clients in recent years. While every telehealth company has unique needs, much of the underlying technology needed to make the appropriate backend for a telehealth platform is pretty universal.
At first, we focused on making a framework we could use internally to avoid retreading the same development ground and making it so our clients could launch faster. Unify Framework for Healthcare, an internal coding framework to reduce repeated development of common systems for telehealth, helped our telehealth clients get launched in weeks instead of months of pure custom development that was needed before.
Over time, we realized that there was a demand to offer a foundation for companies to use on their own with their own development teams. Instead of making a one-frontend-fits-all SaaS platform, we chose to make an API-based headless platform designed to have everything a company needs in order to have a tested and ready telehealth foundation to build on top of.
A Headless, API-First Approach to Telehealth
AsterMD is designed to support the entire patient journey, containing the functionality for pre-qualification, patient intake, identity verification, doctor consultation, prescription management, and pharmacy fulfillment already in place. The headless, API-first design allows you to make the frontend and custom integrations you need on top of the foundation it provides. It also provides patient and electronic medical record management, customizable patient intake forms using our No-Code Intake Builder, and a secure patient portal where patients can access their prescriptions, medical history, lab results, and their consultations.
It also includes analytics and reporting, automation for email, SMS, and WhatsApp, as well as integrations with marketing and event-tracking platforms, helping connect the patient journey with the systems used to acquire and retain patients.
AsterMD is built on HIPAA-secure infrastructure and is ready to integrate with a growing network of healthcare and technology providers.
If you need to connect a CRM, payment processor, different doctor network, pharmacy, fulfillment provider, marketing platform, internal software, or any other specialized component, you aren’t limited like you are with a complete telehealth SaaS solution. Many of the services telehealth businesses need are already available through AsterMD’s Partner Network & Integrations, and for those that aren’t, its API-first architecture makes it much easier to connect custom integrations.
Easier LegitScript Certification
CodeClouds is a LegitScript partner, and this allows us to assist customers with the certification process. Customers receive expedited certification along with a reduced first-year LegitScript fee. When pursued independently, this can take 3-6 months, but with us this process can take just a few weeks.
Why We’re Giving Beta Customers 6 Months Free
In order to ship a polished platform that works in various use cases, we need companies to use this platform to run into any roadblocks we need to smooth out in order to offer a proper product. In addition to that, we want companies to tie in with various systems to see where the rough points are for integration.
Stepping away from the technical side, different companies have different treatment models, provider relationships, pharmacies, types of funnels, and differing fulfillment pipelines. By offering the beta for free, we’re able to make sure we have a better, more versatile platform capable of supporting a wide range of real-world telehealth operations.
Who We're Looking for During the AsterMD Beta
We’re interested in working with companies that are launching new telehealth businesses, replacing their existing infrastructure, or connecting multiple healthcare and technology providers.
We’re also interested in unique use cases that will push our platform beyond a straightforward implementation. If you have an unusual provider workflow, a less common pharmacy integration, or other requirements that don't neatly fit into most telehealth platforms, we’d like to hear about it, as these challenging setups will help us make AsterMD more capable.
Need Something Custom?
Some companies will want to integrate AsterMD into an existing funnel and technology stack. Others will be building a new telehealth platform around it but have specialized systems or integrations they need to connect. Either way, this requires development work. Though AsterMD is made to be very easy to integrate with almost anything and we expect some customers to be able to get it connected and ready on their own quickly, not every company has their own development team.

We’re here to help. If you need to hire us to integrate the platform with your system or to develop anything custom for your telehealth operation, we offer our services, and integrations for AsterMD are at a discounted price during the beta period.
